To clarify, I just use water. No thinner. And this only works with latex paints. Oil paints will usually get tossed out. We hardly use oil in Canada anymore, so it's cheaper/easier to throw the brush...

Coverage changes depending on paint, as well. Look at the specs. If it says 450 square feet per gallon, count on getting roughly 300-350.
