look for the small fusible link that is in series with the gas valve, likely it has opened.you also have a vent safety switch in series. should be one or the other.

I agree with Houston204, the dual fuel system would be the best option. you would use the heat pump the majority of the time and when needed only, the gas furnace would add necessary heat. Good Luck!
