I considered that, but I would have to mount it outside and run a wire to the present controller in the garage. Also, I have heard form some folks that the rain sensors don't work that great.

You can set up a second router as a bridge or repeater, as long as the 2nd router has that function.

I had a similar issue and tried setting up a second router as a repeater on the second floor...
