Oven element burnt out. They do have dramatic deaths like that some times. Inner coil shorted to outer part of element. Acted like a welder for a short time. Was just its time to go.

The older Whirlpools had the 2 solenoids for spin & agitate cycles. GE does not.
It is normal on spin cycle for tub to spin & stop a few times untill most of the water gets pumped out & continues....

Sounds like it might be the ice build-up on the coils dropping or cracking when fridge goes into the defrost cycle. Try to take notice next time if fridge is not running when it happens.
