the picture you are showing is for a fan switch...looks like bi-metal type....if you take it off you will see if the back side is flush or extends into the furnace...are you sure this is the switch...

it has been my experience that electrodes don't fail (unless the porcelain insulator is cracked)....i think you'll find it is a matter of electrode placement in the gas stream on the pilot....too far...
