Was the dimmer installed a 3-way dimmer? If not, that would cause the problem your describing. If it is a 3-way dimmer, its installed wrong.

Are you sure its the xformer buzzing and not the bulbs? If I remember correctly Hampton Bay fixtures typically come with bulbs, cheap ones. Cheap bulbs are a common culprit to buzzing as well.

But, there are some dimmers designed to dim transformers.
