That fault description points either to the line output stage(line transistor being sc) or a fault with the smps-high ht due to no regulation,sc rectifiers etc.
also visually inspect the soldering...

remove the line op stages ht feed,load the ht capacitor with a lamp and check the ht is correct-if so,if you have a scope(and isolation tx)switch on and check at the base of the line driver...

Talking what you need to do is locate the convergence pcb...

what you need to do is locate the convergence pcb and replace the 2 large heatsunk ics on the panel-check for oc resistors as well on the pcb-replacing these should cure the faultafter slight...

faults of this type can be caused by any number of things-cathode heater shorts are one common tube failure-is it a widscreen set?what tube is fitted?you can wind a few turns of insulated wire around...

If you cant get satisfactory results when adjusting your sets convergence there is a good chance of failure of the 2 ics responsible for convergence control.....depending on model they are expensive
