the heat from stove won't affect the mastic. Ive used it for years with no problems. I used mastic above my fireplace and tiles get hot from the fires i build no promblems been there 10 plus years.

You don't have to seal the tile , but the grout will resist stains much better if sealed. Let grout cure for 3 weeks before sealing. put 2 coats sealer on for extra protection. letting each coat dry
