I tested the place I put the red wire based on the pictures with the red end of the multimeter and placed the black end of the multimeter to where the black wire is connected and it shows 120v.

I use a clean gas station 52oz cup 3x full of thinset 1x water almost perfect everytime. If you have a quiktrip near you they have good quality plastic ones.

Almost done with the floors and still have a couple of bags of mapei porcelain gray thinset. The granite i'm using is a real dark blue with silver so gray should not stain it. I haven't found any...
