I saw that toilets can be sold in 2 pieces, tank and base.

I have toilets from 1975 that need to be replaced, will the new water efficient bases work with the old unefficient tanks from 1975?

Ok, well it seems over a few days its pushed out the tyflon a bit and is leaking a tad by spraying some out.
