Update: The wire is not hot. Pen detector just very sensitive I guess. Used volt meter to check. False alarm.

I believe there used to be a 3 way switch for this light. We removed some walls and had the electrical fixed back then. Either way, it seems that the RED wire would become absolete.

Yes. A single pole switch which apparently controlled the red wire but I don't see how since it stays hot.

Constant hot red wire at light switch

So I removed a fluorescent light from my kitchen and noticed a RED wire was used as the hot wire to the light and a total of 3 bundles came together at the box with all black tied together and white...
