Are joist hangers required only at the joist to ledger board connection or are they also required at the beam to joist connection on the opposite side?

the post is notched so the two beams are on that and thats whats on the other side. Is there a simpson fastener i can use for this purpose?

also for attaching the posts to the beam, are 1/2"...
