window seat cushions
Hi, I have a lovely 'L" shaped window in the dining area of my little condo which has really wide ledges (14") which would make a great location for a window seat. My cat loves to sit there and soak up the sun! Just wondering if anyone knows of any sites where I can can get free patterns or ideas? I have looked myself but so far have been unsuccessful. I'm no great seamstress but I have a machine and I'm willing to give it a go - I got 2 estimates to have the cushions professionally made and I almost fainted - yikes! I think I've been bitten by the DIY bug....
Thanks!

I found some info here on making a window seat:

If you are just looking for how to make cushions to fit the area, I would make a pattern out of brown paper (such as from paper bags). If it is an L shape, it may be easier to break it up into two rectangular-shaped cushions. Measure the area and make patterns according to the size they will occupy, adding about 1 1/4" (for the 5/8" seam allowance). Make one pattern for the top and bottom of the cushion and one for each unique side (again adding 1 1/4"). Cut foam rubber to the size required. Sew up 3 sides and insert the cushion, then sew the remaining side (or put a zipper in the cushion to remove the foam rubber).
