Sears Kenmore Model 148 Sewing Machine
I adore this machine, it is a rock. Last week there has been a problem that seems to be either electrical or belt related.
When I push the presser foot, there is no response and then all of a sudden, it starts sewing a million miles an hour. Any ideas? If it's something that I can fix, I would love to do it myself.
Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the forum!
148 isn't the model #. Mostly all Kenmore's start with a 117, 148 or 158. Is it an older, metal machine or a newer plastic one?
If it's an older, metal machine, they can always be fixed. If it's a newer plastic one, then they're disposables.
Does it make a noise when you step on the petal or it does nothing at all?
