sewing hand needle help!
Hey, I'm a newbie here, also new to DIY at all!
I decided to try something new because I'm on maternity leave now and it's boring at home sometimes. I want to sew puppets because there are plenty of puppet patterns on the internet, so I think I'll manage to find an appropriate one. I don't consider buying a sewing machine now, I'd like to start with needles, at least. Can you recommend me good hand needles? Thanks in advance!

I would think personal preferences play a big part in selection of needles. Eyesight and finger strength are two that come to mind. You can search the web. Personally I would go to a department store and buy a variety pack and go from there. With use, you will come to your own preferences very soon. Good luck and the best of wishes for you and the baby.

Welcome to the forum! I agree about buying a variety pack and trying different ones out. It really depends on the fabric, the thickness, the type of thread you're using. I keep several sizes and types on hand because one doesn't fit all.

Thank you for your advice and for your kind words!) I decided to order some needle sets to compare them, as you said. One more question, what do you think about plastic needles, are they ok? They look amusing, but I'm not sure about them. I mean something like 7th option on this *****. What material are your needles made from? I thought all needles are made only from stainless steel, but I also found needles made from plastic and resin.

I never heard of plastic needles and would imagine they're junk.
I personally like John James needles. There's a needle guide on their website and they're in the UK.
