Wood floor peeling

I stained my wood floor , then waited two days and applied poly.
Now when ever the chairs are pulled out from my dinning room table, there is peeling of a light silver colored thin material.
What can I do to solve this problem? I cannot afford professional help.
Need help quick, as this embrasses me in front of guest.

It sounds like you are simply scraping the new poly off the floor. Get some soft feet for your chairs. Your home center store will have easy to install felt pads. I prefer the big rubber cups that slip over the 4 legs of the chair. I have new hardwood floors in my kitchen and the rubber cups work great.

Another option is to buy a rug for under the table and chairs.

peeling finish

The peeling could also be a sign of bad adhesion from not letting the stain dry long enough. when you stain wood you are closing the pores of the wood and locking in the color. if the stain has not dried long enough the poly you put over it will not adhere thus the scratches on the floor. go to www.finishingwoodfloors.com for more info
