New flooring advice

I'm ready to rip out the carpeting in our dining room and put down a new floor. I'm seeing many options including "floating floors" , wood floors, laminates, etc.

What would be a reasonably affordable and "do-able" project that would look good? The room is rectangular with no strange angles and the home is 2 1/2 years old.

Thanks for any advice or opinions.

The sky is the limit, depending on your hand skills and tools to perform the task.

i recently ripped up carpet in two rooms and did floating install of wood flooring... with zero experience i did a pretty fair job, but sure wish i knew then what i know now! used longstrip boards (7.5 in wide) that glue together tongue/groove... hardest part was working in and out of closets, doorways, etc... basic tips: budget way more time than you think it will take, and buy plenty more materials than you think you'll need... easier to return unused than buy more at last minute... another tip: instead of buying expensive finished quarter round to trim the floor, but stock quarter round and paint to match the baseboard... hth!
