There are about 700 MILLION square feet of laminate flooring installed in North America. The original and the early planks used glue in the assembly. Since the advent of glueless flooring, the Alloc and Uniclic have taken more than 80% of the market. Uniclic is the most widely used system and is used by the better known brands. Most of the companies that specialize in laminate flooring (actual manufacturers of laminates) use one of the two mentioned systems. Pergo has used the Uniclic system up to now and that is changing with their aquisition of a new design patent. Take a trip to the local flooring dealer or big box and compare the systems. There may be a slight difference depending on the plant that actually produced one or another brand but you should find the most stable system if you compar Alloc, Uniclic and Fastloc. I've done it and I have a definate opinion but I don't 'rate' brands. Selecting a decorative product for your home is a very personal thing. Find a brand with at least 15 colors/patterns and at least a 25 year warrantee for a better chance at picking a real winner for YOUR HOME.
