stay off floors?

I am having my wood floors refinished and am wondering how long I need to stay off of them afterwards? Should I put down anything special to walk on initially?

Stay off floors

You should be able to walk on your wood floors as soon as the finish is dry. Finish manufacturer's label directions give estimated drying times, but these can be affected by temperature and humidity conditions. Allowing additional time, will assure that the finish is dry.

The biggest enemy to hardwood floor finish is grit that gets tracked into the home. Put mats (not rubber backed) inside and out of entries and keep them clean. Runners and rugs in high traffic areas are helpful. For additional maintenance info go to
