newbie needs help restoring floors

Want to restore the hardwood floors in my home. Unfortunately, the person who put the carpet down glued it down in the dining room. Other rooms just have padding and the carpet is not glued down. I have never done this before and want to do this myself.
thanks

Refinishing

You will be in for alot of elbow grease when it comes to that adhesive. Opinions vary on how to remove it stripper, scraping etc. I have found the fastest and easiest way to remove it is to sand it !!!! We usually use a 12 1/2 or 20 grit belt on the drum and edger to remove it and then progress through the rest of the grits as normal. BEFORE you do this you need to find out the sandable surface of your floor. Pull a register grate or remove a molding and find out what you have...

There are three ways of removing adhesive that I know of: Heat, abrasion and chemical. Depending upon what type of adhesive one of these methods will do it.
