Cork flooring

Just a little post with some info - after much mulling over, we chose to install cork flooring in our bathroom - we purchased it online and installed it ourselves. It was a walk in the park and the floor is lovely and warm.

Couple of things to note for those who are going to do this;

cut the cork with scissors not exacto knife - you can't see the first cut after you make it with the knife - cork is very forgiving!

make sure you put the urethane on the floor - at least four coats.

make sure subfloor is perfectly level and firm.

We bought just the cork - it didn't have a backing on it like the 'click flooring" does.

It costs us about $2.80 per square foot installed!

I couldn't find anything about cork flooring on this site so thought I'd put in this little post - it's a great floor!

Cork is also available in a laminate plank with Uniclic assembly. There are 5 colors and the planks are backed with a thin layer of cork as well. Coated with 3 coats of acrylic, the product has some great natural features.
