Almost finished oak parquet floor

Our first big project was replacing the nasty carpet and vinyl in our den and kitchen with oak parquet flooring. We are pleased with how it turned out but have a problem that we aren't sure how to solve. We laid floor right up to the edge of the basement stairs not realizing that we would need to use a stair nose. How to fix? Can we tear up those pieces and start over? Can we just cut those pieces somehow (I've only got a jig saw and I know that won't do the job....). It was only after buying the stairnose did I realize that I needed to allow about 3-4" at the stair edge. Any suggestions?

go get a cheap circular saw $20- 30 and set the depth to your need or get a hammer and chisel.
