I installed no-glue laminate flooring (Uniclic) with a premium noise reducing pad. The only problem I have is that it produces a tremendus amount of static electricity. I have gotten used to the shock of turning on lights or touching a faucet but I plan to install the same flooring and pad in my home office, which will be a big problem with my computer.
I'm thinking of laying a grid of fine copper wire down between the pad and the flooring and grounding it. Will this work? What should the spacing of the grid wires be?
Thanks for your suggestions

Static electricity
What's the humidity level in your home? Typically, static electricity is a problem when humidity levels are too low. A humidistat will tell you your humidity level. Somewhere between 40% to 60% is normal. What are you using to clean the floor? Sometimes using the wrong cleaner will cause static problems.

Thanks for your reply, twelvepole. A humdity of 40-60% maybe normal in KY but here in New Mexico "normal" is lower. We use cleaning solutions reccommended for laminate floors. The problem was at its worst when the flooring was first installed and has gotten better over time, so I don't think the cleaning solutions are the problem.
