Laminate transitions

What is the proper way to install carpet transition and T molding as far as coming up to the door frame? Should the door frame be cut to allow the transition to slip underneath or should it just come up to the frame leaving 1/4 " expansion space on each side and fill the gap with flexible caulking? Thanks for any advice and a great forum.

The transition strip can be cut tight to the door molding, it does not require room for expansion.
Be sure that you fasten the transition (nail or glue, I prefer glue) to the subfloor not the laminate.
It is necessary to leave expansion between the laminate and the transition strip.

I have spent several hours this afternoon looking for help here, only to come up empty. I laid my engineered plank floor about a year and a half ago. The foundation of my new house is concrete and the moisture test passed in several rooms before I put the floor down. The floor is completely flat - I checked this thoroughly before starting the job. I was not going to install this floor if it was not going to last. I used mastic to secure the planks to the concrete, as recommended by the manufacturer and several professionals in my area. I used a grooved edged trowel specifically designed to spread the mastic. I thought I had done everything I needed to do to insure a quality floor, so I laid down close to 1800 square feet of hardwood floor - seamless, at that - it just flows from one room into another, without interruption. It is absolutely beautiful. Now that you have the history, my problem: There is a small section, in the hall, between the kitchen and pantry, that has lifted from the concrete subfloor. I have tile in the kitchen and pantry and since through the pantry is the garage, this tends to be a high traffic area. I left a 1/4 inch around the entire edge of the floor to allow for the movement of the floor, so there is no buckling at this location. It just seems like the mastic has released the wood in this one area. Is this a common high traffic problem, or could a liquid have spilled causing the glue to fail? Maybe I did not properly prepare this piece of floor . . . would a single plank warp or bow and take the surrounding planks with it? I'm very happy with a laminate bedroom floor I recently installed and I'm considering using it in a kitchen remodel. The kitchen will be gutted down to a dry, smooth terrazo concrete floor. Does it make any sense to install the laminate before the cabinet installation to avoid cutting, molding, etc. and have a smooth surface extending under the front of the cabinets? Will that cause expansion problems? I guess it would also raise some issues if I ever replace the floor, but I like the idea of the floor covering running under the cabinets with no molding!
