I have a 150 yr.old house. The dining room floor is bowed. It bows in the middle and the sides are at least 2 1/4" off on either side. How in the world can this be fixed? One more thing the floor is over a dirt crawl space!!!. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just moved into a new spec home and the builder put in some nice oak wood flooring that extends from my entry way to the kitchen and nook area as well as the pantry. Trouble is that they just put one coat of stain and the final finish coat, but nothing else. He said many people later put varnish or lacquer or polyurethane on if they want to. We want durability first and foremost but a slight shine would be good. Already the builder had a few drops of paint spill onto the floor and we are having difficulty removing them. What would be a good way to get those dime size spots off? Evidently it dried and the painter tried to wipe it off without much success. Any suggestions for the final coats to provide a long lasting protective finish would be appreciated. Thank you, Brad P.S. I sure appreciate these forums!!!:cool:
