What if a plywood sub floor is underneath the partical board ? can you still install 3/4 solid oak floor on it?

As long as the fasteners penetrate into the plywood at a reasonable depth(more then ½ and almost long enough to go all the way through). Remember the fasteners go in at an angle, so a 2" fastener doesn't pentrate 2" downward.
