Leak under bathroom floor

Found a leak under my bathroom floor where water was running down the outside of the commode pipes whenever the commode was flushed. Approximately a one foot section of the wood support beam under the commode was water soaked and black on both sides of the beam. Turned off the water to the commode and used a fan under the house for several hours to dry the support beam.

The beam seems to be solid and does not appear to be damaged. but is still black Will be getting a plumber to fix the bathoom leak problem.

Any ideas on what caused the bathroom leak? What should I do and who should I call to make sure the support beam is sound, and to prevent mildew/mold? Also, is there any way to remove the black color from the beam that was caused by the water leak?

Help! Thanks.

A good plumber should be able to answer your question.

The "black" may well be mold. Chlorine bleach will kill mold and lighten the dark color as well. If the area is very large a mold mitigation or removal professional may be needed.
