Laminate over vinyl?

I have decided to install a Wilsonart laminate floor in my bathrooms, and am unsure of what to do about the existing floor. We are on a concrete slab, with at least one layer of sheet vinyl (circa 1976) and one layer of horrid vinyl tile. We have had a small leak in one bathroom which we are having fixed at the moment; I know all of the flooring/subfloor has been wet for some time now. I want to know if I should pull up everything and start over (asbestos in old vinyl?); pull up only the vinyl tile sheets in order to start with a smooth surface; or just go over the tiles, which have a seam that simulates a grout line - and catches every bit of dirt in the universe. I want this floor to look nice and last. Thanks for any help you can give me!

Be carefull to fully read the warranty and man instructions about bathroom installations. You will be headed for trouble down the road esp if you have kids.

Is a product that hates moisture going to satisfy your expectations? Wood and wood products are a problem in moist atmospheres. Have you considered tile?AzFred's Web Site
