Question repairing small scratches in hardwood floors?

I just bought a house and took out the carpets to uncover the hardwood. Removed all staples and tack strips and in some areas it looks as if someone carelessly removed tack strips before and put small scratches every 6 inches or so. The scratches are only about an inch long and are not very deep. Is there a way to fix these without having to re-finish the entire floor? I love the finish and look of the floors otherwise. The scratches are close to the walls and will probably not be easy to see when the furniture is in the room.

Also, what is the best thing to use to clean the floors. The house was built in the early 50's and I believe the floors are oak with a varnished finish.

Thanks

Jason.

The marks were made from a small prt bar to remove the strips i would consider them character marks because you will go nuts. To fix them you will need to hand sand every mark and with a light touch aplly poly to the effected areas and blend or feather the poly to match.
