Question Hardwood floor removal

How would I remove a damaged (nailed down) prefinished 'Bruce' wood floor?

Thanks, Tony

Are you referring to a single board, or the entire floor?

Thiggy, Thanks for responding. I will be removing the entire floor due to water damage.

the best way to do this is to look where the floor ended along the wall. Look for face or top nailed boards generally the end of the run will have a smaller board. Take a circular saw and cut down the center of the board next to the top nailed boards facing the center of the room. Make sure to set the saw for 3/4 in depth. Then take a hammer and chisel to the ends of the boards that were not cut on each end to split them. Remove these boards useing a pry bar to expose the tongue of the next board. Once you have exposed that tongue you are on your way hit that pry bar under those fasteners and move alongas you go they will all come up as you progress across the floor.

Phil, Thanks for the reply.
Sounds easy enough. Should the subfloor remain solid enough to lay the new floor? Or will have to add 1/4" underlayment.

If the subfloor has water damage also you may need to replace some or all of it.
