install ceramic tile over parquet
I had a professional ceramic tile installer tell me that I could put down cement backer board (1/2") directly over 6" parquet squares. In the rooms where carpet is down, just put down 3/4" backer board to compensate for the height of the parquet. The sub-floor is 3/4' plywood, on 16" centered joists. This would preclude the need to take up the parquet in order to lay the ceramic.Would the heights(carpet to parquet) match? Will there be excessive deflection/movement? Is this good advice? It sounds to good to be true. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sounds good to me.
As long as you use different thicknesses of cement board to level the floor between rooms as recommended, the tile should work out fine.
