cleaning wood floors -eek

We have just rented an older house that has wood floors throughout. Out landlords appear to have removed carpeting at some point, but do not appear to have resealed the wood or done anything else. We have a small daughter and I need to disinfect the floors to be comfortable with her playing and crawling all over them. Since we are renting, it doesn't seem appropriate, nor do I really have time to refinish them. Any suggestions what the best strategy is? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Find a basic hardwood floor cleaner and a terry cloth mop, clean the floors, and get many area rugs.
