Go Duke !!! - Painting Laminate Flooring

I'm getting ready to put down laminate flooring in my basement (rec room, sports theme). I'd like to paint a portion of a basketball court on the floor - to be exact, a replica of Coach K Court - the Duke basketball court - on the floor. Any thoughts on how to do this, and how to protect it ...?

Thanks...

...Mike

Wow, sounds awesome.
The finish on laminate may make it hard to do.
call manufacturers.

Your going to have to ruff'n up the surface where you want the paint to stick. Like painting a car, a slick surface isn't good.

You will need to repaint as it wears off.

Nice idea, like me painting the Mona Lisa. It won't be worth anywhere near the value of the original.

Do a web search for "marquetry" and see what comes up. It is used for real wood floors, not for laminates though

Marquetry is the art of veneer inlay application that requires cutting out the substrate or complimenting veneer. Such a process would lay open the porous fiberboard core and expose it to all sorts of undesirable elements, not the least of which is moisture.
