Heat Registers/Vents router or cut?

Doing 1100sqft of my house in KronoSwiss laminate flooring. Since I'm a rookie I decided to do the MBR & WIC first to pickup some experience before doing the main part of the house.

In doing the MBR this weekend, I noticed that the two rows of planks that had the cut-out for the heat register were particularly trouble some. two little gaps opened between two of the planks. They're small but visible so I'd like to avoid redoing that mistake in the main areas.

Should I cut out the boards for the register when laying them. Or is it easier to lay the floor over the vent and then come back when done and drill / router the hole for the register?

Thanks.

i'm not sure where these tiny gaps are ....are they between the boards or do you mean you have gaps between the register and the flooring that the vent cover will not hide..................it is easy and wiser to cut the vents when you get to them......and instaed of a router since it could tend to jump on you....try a hand held jigsaw

the gaps that show are on the long/narrow end of the boards. On closer inspection this evening I obviously missed an unlevel spot on the floor... major setback seeing how I decided to glue the last 2 rows of boards since they were near the master bath...

So now I guess I have to rip up and probably replace75sqft of floor to go back and make it level.
