Doors or Floors first?

Hello,

We are currently renovating our first home and have basically gutted it - all trim, doors, and floors have been removed. We are about to install our new flooring which is a cork click ' n lock panel floating floor system but want to know if we need to reinstall the doors before doing so or should we install the doors after the flooring goes in? Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
lolli

Lolli if you would like to make life easier and the job look nicer do the floors first. The reason behind this is because you wont have to make a perfect cut around the door jambs. Then you can just simply install those doors on top of the finished flooring. Most people dont replace everything and have to go about this install the hard way which I listed above.

Something else to think about is install the doors after the flooring, before you put the floor mouldings down. Complete the doors with all the casings and then cut your floor mouldings into the door casing.

1. Floor
2. Doors with casing mouldings
3. Base (floor) mouldings

Good luck to you and have fun
