Once the floors have been refinished...

We are having our floors refinished next week. Once the polyurethane process is over, when can we move our furniture back into the rooms? We've been told we can't put rugs down for a month while the floor cures, but what about dressers, desks, and all the other kind of stuff we all live with? Thanks!

Skip 3 days but be careful and put "Felt pads"on the legs and corners of the furniture. You can pick up self-stick pads at any home depot. As for the mats and area rugs in 2 weeks it should be cured. Also i don't know what area your from but keep the windows closed and put heat on around 70 degrees for those 3 days.

Wood floor finish

Finish manufacturer's instructions should be followed regarding drying and curing times. Depending upon humidity and temperature, curing time may take longer. Better safe than sorry and give floor finish the benefit of the doubt. In other words, do not be in such a hurry to return furniture to room at risk of the finish. Your floor finisher should be able to give you proper advice. If possible, read label directions yourself and allow additional time to make sure floor has properly cured. Curing time varies among the different finishes. Water-based poly tends to dry and cure quicker than oil-based. Although a floor finish may be dry enough to walk upon, it takes much longer for the finish to cure. An area rug should not be placed upon the finish until it is completely cured.
