Talking Newbie help - Laminate install - !

A long story short...
I'm wondering if it's advisable to put new Laminate flooring over top of linolium flooring or if it should be ripped out first? There are some creeks and squeeks I would like to eliminate too! Any thoughts? What about underlay?

the instruction/info booklet that comes with your flooring should say what types of subfloor & existing floors are acceptable for laying your laminate over. make sure you're not doing something that will invalidate your warranty.

we laid our laminate over our existing vinyl (with the required foam underlay in between) with no problem. we were thrilled to not have to remove it!

good luck on a FUN project!!!

If You Have Access To The Floor Joist From The Basement, I Would Shim Them And Try Screwing Down The Floor, With 1-1/2 Wood Screws.i Would Leave The Vinyl Down For Extra Warmth, And Use A Good Underlay To Help Absorb The Impact On Your Laminate. Enjoy
