Matching old hardwood for repairs...

Hi,

While I'm waiting for some help with my post "Subfloor leveling" I have another related question:

Termites caused us to have to take up part of the oak flooring in a room in our house. All the termite repair is done and after the subfloor is prepped we are ready to reinstall the oak flooring. Unfortunately due to both the termites and the removal process we have lost some strips. I'm looking for suggestions on how to get a proper match for new replacement boards. We plan to hire someone professional to do the refinishing after the rebuild (hard to get anyone around here) so I don't know how much of the matching is in the wood or in the finishing.

Surprisingly, under the boards we found an original material tag from 1967. It reads:

Lewisville Flooring Company, Lewisville Arkansas

Grade (illegible)

Size 25/32 x 2-1/4

I couldn't find the company, so all help is appreciated w/this issue!

Hardwood floor repair

Foor repairs can be done by using old boards from inconspicuous area like inside a closet. New replacement boards will be less noticeable in out of way area.
