Pergo floor in 2 adjacent areas, same direction?

I'm planning on putting the floor in a large room in a back to front direction which is the direction of the light source. I have a small hallway 4x 8 feet next to it I plan on installing the Pergo floor also.

If I continue the pattern from the large room, the boards will run in the 4 ft direction in the hallway
If I install the boards in the 8 foot direction, I need to do some type of transition.

Which way is right or better? If the second method is right, how do I transition?

hallway

If I understand correctly you want the floor running a certain way in the large room, but are concerned that it continues in the hallway. We have installed many floors with the hallway being laid the boards running the short way, because the larger room dictated so. It is personal choice, but personally I don't have a problem with it. You can install a transistion if you like, but transistion area necessary evil. They don't look great and cause a tripping point in your floor.
