Hi,

I live in the basement of my parents home. I'm interested in replacing the carpet. I thought it would be funky to replace the carpet with chip board wood and possibly stain it.. or whatever you call it to make it nice and shiney..

anyone think that would look okay? would it work?

Don't do this funky thing. Like man the chip board will break up, and is not made for this dudey type of use.

Weak wood flooring

I've recently notice a weak spot in the corner of one of my rooms. I reside is a two-story home. There is carpet covering the existing floor. What can I do to strength this section of the floor?When I walk on this section it's very weak it feels like I may fall through the floor. Can you help me? L.J.

We are getting ready to sell our home. My husband who is not the do-it-yourselfer says the hardwood floors need to be re done. I wonder if I, The do-it-yourselfer, could save us some money by just refinishing them. Theyhave been beat up pretty bad. Mostly just scuff marks that I get up with light sanding. Is this something that I would be able to do with some guidence (do-it-yourself book) or should we just pay someone to come in and redo. Any feedback would be great! Thank you, Connie !)
