To pad or not to pad.....under laminate?

Laminate flooring is going to be going over hardwood. Should I add the underlayment padding to it or not? Brother in law said it will make it feel hollow, someone else said he would only do it with the pad???? Any input?

You must use the underlayment cushion with laminate flooring, to maintain the manufacturers warranty. DO NOT use a cushion with a moisture barrier! If you do, your hardwood underneath has a high chance of buckling and heaving, making your new laminate heave also.
