Help? Ebony Stain on Heart Pine Floors
Hi,
I'm about to stain my heart of pine floors a very dark color. I understand there are certain pitfalls to I could hit, but no-one seems to be very clear on what they are.
One person I spoke to said he'd had a very bad experience with the process once, had learned his lesson and now knew of some extra step that would prevent me from ruining my floors with a coat of blotchy black stain. Unfortunately, he wanted me to hire him rather than try it myself, so he simply would not tell me his secret.
What's the secret? Am I making a mistake with my 75-year old floors?
Thanks for any help you can give me,
Tanya

Your in for a learning experience!!!!! Your going to know how to run a sander very well. Hope you don't have to sand too much where replacing the wood flooring is the only way to fix it!
Pine does not stain well at all, period. Pine sap, is just one reason.
Tint the finish!!!!!!!
