BR111 Amendoim 6 1/4" width, Engineered 5/16": Anyone know about this wood?

I like the looks of this wood. But, I do not know anything about it, or the BR11 Amendoim wood. Does anyone know about this particular wood? Good or bad?

I'm not a pro, just someone who's been researching wood floors for herself...

I've heard the BR-111 is well milled - I'm actually putting down some of the 3/8" engineered in my home. The 5/16" doesn't have much of a wear layer - if you don't plan to be in your home for a decade or more, you probably aren't concerned about refinishing anyway.

As to Amendoim - there is some color variation - I've seen some samples that I loved and some that didn't set off any lights and sirens for me. It's stable, hard as red oak and adjusts color-wise within 6 months of installation.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply. I too have heard that BR111 is well milled, but I am NO expert either. I was concerned about the 5/16 wear layer. I was under the impression that with Engineered Wood, you should have 3/8 wear layer. But, the store owner swears by the BR111. He has been in business for a number of years. But, then again, he wants to sell product.

Whatever I buy, I am having it installed by a professional.

If purchasing an engineered wood floor, the more layers and the thicker the veneer layer (nothing less than 3/8") the better.

Your not going to find a 3/8" wear layer on any engineered wood.
Not even the " engineered has a 3/8" wear layer.
