Cutting Door Casing to Install HW Planks under

I am installing hardwood, where carpet had been before. Is it possible to cut the door casings, so the hardwood planks fit under them, or do I have to remove them completely?

Yes, you can undercut them. No need to remove them (but you can if you want). Be sure to measure 1st before cutting! Use a jamb saw (undercut saw).

Instead of measuring use a scrap piece of flooring [or any wood same thickness] as a guide for the saw.

Lay a scrap next to the jamb and with your pencil mark all the way around.

Set your electric jamb saw to the right height, using the scrap.

Run the saw around the jamb staying on your line, and also cut the baseboard back about an inch or two, so you don't end up with a little hole that the trim won't cover.

Clean out the debris, and vacuum it out.

Take your scrap and see if it fits.
