Parquet Flooring

Last night, the boss and I started to lay a parquet floor over OSB underlayment in our kitchen. It seems that my mastic is drying too quickly. I'm using a 1/8" notched trowel. I spread out a 4-6' area, and the mastic dried out before we got the last tile in place. We also had a heck of a time trying to merge the tiles together.

Does anyone have any ideas???? I'm ready to go back to dirt floors.

You need a soft rubber mallet, like the ones that come with a flooring nailer, to slap/pull the stuff together.
