DAP Kwik Foam in expansion gaps

My expansion gaps are fairly large, 1/2" to 3/4" (due to long runs) in some places. Also there are areas where the subfloor does not meet the wall exactly, and there is a gap where drafts/pests/whatnot could get through down into the basement area (unfinished).

I was at a local hardware store and saw this DAP Kwik Foam, and asked the guy there about it and it sounded like it would work to fill these gaps. So I bought that and did a little trial run of it, and it looked fine, so I put a 1/2" bead down in a ~30 linear foot run (see pics). Well, after 2 hours, the foam expanded a LOT.. basically filling up the expansion slot and pouring over (fortunately I had masked the edges of the wood flooring).

Now this stuff cuts really easily w/ a sharp knife, so I lopped the overflow off, and you can see the result in the pics.

NOW FOR THE QUESTION!

Will this royally eff my expansion gap? The cured foam is quite flexible and softish, as you can see in the pics it is very "airated". I would *IMAGINE* it would squish when the wood expands. Will the wood deal with this slight resistance or does it need an "open gap" to expand into? I can cut out a channel if need be...

I can't see how that was really necessary but I don't think it will hurt anything either. That foam wont keep it from expanding if it needs to.
