Pergo and glued down carpet

I am wanting to install pergo (with the padding already attached) in my living room. The problem is I have old indoor/outdoor carpeting glued down to the floor. Trying to remove the old carpet is going to be a nightmare as it seems the glue isn't going to come off the floor very easy. Since there is no padding under the carpet and it's the old thin indoor/outdoor type, how do I remove it / fix it or otherwise get it ready to install the pergo?

You can cut strips with utility knife and use a scraper to remove. The carpet will need to be removed before you can install Pergo.

What do I do with the glue / resin that is left on the floor? Should I try to sand that (a very large area) or cap it?

Adhesive is likely latex-based. If so, it is possible to soften with water and dish liquid solution and scrape off.
