laminate to carpet transition

I'm installing laminate in a room where it butts up to carpet. The carpet edge is finished with the "J" channel w/integrated tack strip. My question is when transitioning from laminate to carpet, I know to use transition piece but what about the J channel? Do I remove it and tack down the carpet edge then apply the lanimate transition piece?
Thanks

Remove the aluminum crimp metal. Mark where the carpet ends on the floor, so you know where the endcap transition goes. Pull the carpet & pad back. Install your flooring and transition. Install tackstrip along the transition, leaving a 1/4-3/8 gap/gully to tuck the carpet into. Stretch the carpet up on the tackstrip, and trim the edge so it is about an 1/8 long. Sqirt a bead of latex carpet seam sealer in the gully, and tuck the carpet in the gully, with a butter knife.
