laminate installation questions

My husband and I are getting ready to install laminate in our living areas and we have a few questions:

1. We've been told to install perpendicular to the light sources and lengthwise down the hallway. Which is more important, since we can only do one or the other?

2. Will we have to put a transition piece in the doorway between the foyer and hallway or can we just continue the laminate?

3. Can we take our baseboards down, install the laminate, then put the baseboards back up instead of using quarter round?

Thanks in advance. The things I've read on here have been helpful already.

1. I don't know.

2. How long is the run? You shouldn't have to use a transition piece unless you will have a really long run (not sure on the exact length, but its been posted before on here).

3. Yes (that is the recommended way for the best outcome).

Welcome to the DIY forums rls

1. Those are "guidelines". You can run them whichever way you choose! This previous thread will help you a lot:

1. lamiante floor is very easy install than solid wood also easy maintence.
2.you can use the floor accessary between door and stairs also
3.it is better to take a baseboards but you also cannt put the baseboard under the laminate floor , the balance paper under the floor is also very waterproof.
