Talking Engineered hardwood flooring in Plywood sheets?

Howdy-
A friend told me that he once saw some plywood that had a hardwood plank-flooring "face" on it. He only saw it once at his local ply shop and hasn't seen it again. Has anyone seen this type of product? He was pretty sure that it was an engineered type of thing with a plywood underlayment and hardwood plank flooring on one face. Any help identifying who makes this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much-
Greasy

The lack of response may be for the same reason I didn't. I've never seen anything like that.

Textured plywood is used for exterior siding and for interior paneling. Wonder if that was what your friend saw?

They are hardboard panels. You have seen those expensive mansions that are newly built with the formal rooms with wood stained walls and custom trimming. That's how it is done.

So is it actually a hard wood veneer? Sounds like fancy paneling. Would it be suitable for floors? Doesn't sound like it.

The veneer is not all that thick, so flooring wouldn't be the best choice. I get e-mail spam at least once a month from someplace in China, that produces basically any wood species you want.

I forgot to mention in my previous post, but cabinet makers use the stuff mostly.
